God I used to dream of being able to go to places like this! Ever since I was a kid being brought up by wholesome American sitcoms I always knew I wanted to be able to eat at a true American-style diner. Every time I eat here little 7 year old Rosie holds up her Care Bear and shouts with glee.
Belle’s Diner is a gorgeous old-school diner straight out of an Edward Hopper painting that serves everything from good ol’ fashioned burgers to mac n’ cheese, ribs and Southern fried chicken. And boy, that fried chicken is something else. With its boneless pieces of chicken, coated with love and fried to perfection then served with the tastiest BBQ sauce you’ve ever had the privilege of putting in your mouth. It really does need to be eaten to be believed.
Then you must leave room for dessert because Belle’s pies are out of this world. On my last visit I couldn’t choose between the Key Lime Pie or the Peanut Butter and Chocolate Cheesecake, so I did the only sensible thing and ordered both. It was like tiny angels were having a party in my mouth.
Visit: 150 Gertrude Street, Fitzroy VIC 3065;View: www.bellesdiner.com.au; Call: +61 3 9077 0788; Open: 7 days – 11am until late; Wallet: Burgers from $15, Fried Chicken $16.

Man, that sounds good right about now
Felicia it’s sooooooooooo amazing! They have a peanut butter milkshake that I’m yet to try
Oooo! Do a review (please) so I can taste it, too! 😀 I’m actually really hesitant about peanut butter flavored anything because people can get a little heavy handed with the peanut butter
Oh I love me some peanut butter, that’s one thing I enjoyed when I was in the US – you guys put peanut butter in EVERYTHING! Praise Jebus!
LOL…oh so true
