Last night I attended Collins Place’s Spring Racing’s Ultimate Fashion Workshop. It was a great night hosted by fashion stylist Franco Schifilliti who walked us through how to achieve a winning look from head to toe this coming Spring Racing season.
He spoke to make-up artist Kim Taveres who advised that the only thing you needed to pack in your clutch was your lipstick and a pressed powder to top up during the day. She said bold pink/fuchsia was the go to colour this season, which I was more than happy to hear! Dewy skin and rouge-less cheeks were also another tip, as you don’t want to go overboard with a pink cheek AND lip and look like a clown.
A hot tip from hair stylists from salon Rokk Ebony was to make sure that your hair was balanced out with your hat/hair piece. You didn’t want to overdo it was a huge ‘do and then have an even bigger hat, that was a big no no.
We then got to see some fashion ideas for each racing day, going from traditional black and white for Derby Day right through to a more relaxed look for Stakes Day.
The night was topped off with a screening of Frances Ha, some Connoisseur ice cream and a special gift bag. It really was a perfect excuse for a girl’s night out, and the best thing was the price of the ticket (a very cheap $10) was to the McGrath Foundation.
