I made a little day trip on Monday to see the Modern Love; Fashion Visionaries from the FIDM Museum LA Exhibition that’s currently running at the Bendigo Art Gallery. It’s an amazing collection from designers from the last 40 years who have made a lasting impression in fashion.
Designers featured in the exhibition include Chanel, Versace, Carolina Herrera, Vivienne Westwood, YSL and even Toni Maticevski who is the only Aussie to be featured.
I love the fact that there were gorgeous couture gowns interspersed with t-shirts and funky sweaters from Japanese designers. It really showed how eclectic fashion has become in our modern lives.
These are just a selection of my favourite pieces. As you can imagine with more than 60 works in total I was in heaven snapping away at them all.
And amongst all these amazing gowns there were runway shows projected onto the walls. The only thing that could’ve topped it all would be to try on all the gowns. Although I don’t really need to know how tiny those models are!
I had a fun day out and was happy to bust out my new Cocolatte black floral dress that I picked up in the Boxing Day sales for $15 – such a bargain! I teamed it with a Kmart clutch that was $9 and Lovisa bangles for $7. All that and the shoes and my outfit cost less than $50!! I also love that I was walking amongst some truly beautiful, priceless gowns in my fabulous bargain outfit. 😃
The Modern Love exhibition runs until the 2nd of February and I highly recommend it if you have the chance. You can make a day of it like I did and grab a bite to eat and a well deserved cider for lunch at the Wine Bank.
