OK, I know I’m late to the party with only just getting into Game of Thrones, but I’m here now so you can drop the needle and let the record keep playing as we chat about those fierce braids Khaleesi/Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) has each episode?! Now I love a braid as much as the next girl, but these are some next level, shit-hot amazing braids. Each episode I’m lusting after her mane and cursing the Gods I ever cut my near butt crack length hair. How I wish I had the tresses or the wherewithal to put these elaborate hairstyles into action.
Here I am on the couch in my PJs desiring fantastical hairstyles so of course I pop on over to Pinterest (because that doesn’t zap like a bazillion hours of your life!) to continue my obsession and stumble upon the fishtail braid, the likes of which I haven’t seen since primary school. Now these are truly beautiful and by now I’m contemplating getting a weave or at least some ratty extensions so I can at least attempt to look this fabulous. I’ve always known how to braid my own hair but fishtail braids have eluded me and I’ve always thought them a thing of wonder and mystery. The unicorn of the hair world if you will.
The closest short – mid length braids I’ve found is this super cute ‘do from Carey Mulligan. Believe me I’ve tried to replicate it but it just doesn’t work with my short fringe.
THEN I took to the interwebs to try and find a tutorial for short hair fishtail braids and the only good one I found was this Howcast video and even then it wasn’t exactly what I was after.
I really wish I had a photo to share with you all of my fab new fishtail braiding skills but alas I failed! You can imagine how terribly upset I am that I can’t master this effing hairstyle. I’ll keep practising though and I’m determined to bring this to you for one of my upcoming OOTD posts. ‘Til then I’ll give you an “artists interpretation” of what that might look like…happy humpday my gorgeous people 🙂
Has any trend or style just simply eluded you and you couldn’t wear it/pull it off/master the skill? What was it? I’d like to know I’m not the only nuffy out there! xo

You are so silly!! I got a good a laugh at the last pic! You had hair down to your crack, and cut it???? Cray cray. My stupid hair is so fine braids look stupid in it. I,would love to rock a fishtail braid, but don’t have enough hair to even make a guppytail braid 😦 Oh, and welcome to the Game of Thrones! I look forward to it every week!
