Rockin’ In The USA: Seattle

seattle1

Welcome back to my U.S. travel journal, hope you enjoyed part one in San Francisco. Today we’re off to Seattle…

DAY FOUR: We arrived into Seattle by late afternoon and made it to our hotel, we were staying right by the Space Needle which was super handy. Once we checked in we dumped our bags and walked down to the waterfront. By this stage Tez and I were STARVING! We grabbed a quick burger and then continued exploring before heading up to Pike’s Market and then stumbled upon an Irish bar with free wifi – oh the lowly life of a traveller who has to survive on wifi! That night we met up with our Napa Valley friend, Laurel, who took us out to a couple of bars; Sun Distillery, Von’s 1000 Spirits and another that I’d completely forgotten the name of as by this stage I was a little tipsy shhhhhh 😉

DAY FIVE: Up bright and early to explore the Space Needle (again me + heights = poopy pants, so I left this one up to Tez for a solo mission up the Needle) and over to EMP Museum where they had an exhibition dedicated to Nirvana and another on the lure of horror movies. Super cool museum! As if the morning wasn’t awesome enough already we then met up with Charity who runs Stalking Seattle. This was an awesome little tour where we got to drive around and visit all the hotspots from the birthplace of Grunge. Spots like the Black Hole Sun sculpture and Kurt Cobain’s home where he lived and died. Such an amazing tour for two music nerds like Tez and me!

DAY SIX: We started off the day by going on the Ride The Ducks of Seattle Tour – such a fun way to see the city. About 40 minutes into the tour our little bus turned into a boat and we got to sail around Lake Union and see Gasworks Park and the little houseboat that was in “Sleepless in Seattle”.

After our tour we met up with Hilary from Cutie Camera’s. It was so much fun to meet another blogger, especially one that I admire a lot! Hilary was such a sweetheart, she made Tez and me little bracelets that have clouds on them, to represent Seattle! We all got along like a house on fire and managed to walk around Pike’s Market all the while gas bagging away 🙂 She also took us to Freemont where we got to see the coolest sculpture of a troll that lives under the bridge 🙂 Thanks again Hilary! xo
