When Sephora opened its first Australian store late last year in Sydney I was a little devastated. I mean, Sydney and not Melbourne?! RUDE! Don’t they know there are just as many beauty obsessed lasses down south? Anyway, what’s that saying “when life gives you lemons”? I took this as a sign to organise a little girls trip/long weekend where we could indulge in a some food and wine and MAKE-UP!
Last Saturday Tez and I ventured up north to the harbour city and were delighted to find out that the annual Sydney gay and lesbian Mardi Gras parade was on that night! Well that was our plans sorted! We checked into the Kirketon in lovely, hip Darlinghurst, which was right around the corner from the parade – score!
Before meeting up with Dave, Piero and friends at the parade we managed to wolf down some yummy burritos and mojitos and “bumped” into these gorgeous lollipop gals on their way to the parade.
Alas I don’t have any pics of the parade as I sensibly left my camera at the hotel while we watched all the amazing floats and then cut some incredible moves on the D-floor at a pub later on!

The next day, after a well deserved drunken sleep in Tez and I ventured out into the city and the purpose of our trip *cue Oprah’s voice* SEPHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORAAAAAAAAAAAAA! We were like a fat kid with a donut – ALL OVER IT!
We both went with the 45 minute make-over with a make-up artist which was $85 and redeemable on products. Let’s just say I spent way more than $85 that day…and you know there’ll be reviews to come!

The (Beauty) Holy Grail?
Look at all those pretty colours
Just a little excited to be getting my make up done
So happy with the end result thanks to Jess at Sephora
As our make-up was looking on-effing-point we had to show it off! We wandered sashayed down to have dinner at Pizza e Birra in Surry Hills and enjoyed some delicious pasta (and drinkies) and watched the world go by.
Tez’s Kardashian-esque make-over! Love those lashes!!
Spa pampering -Ayurve Spa at Myer
On Monday Tez and I had booked in some spa time at Ayurve Spa. Oooh la la it was fabulous. While Tez was having a body scrub and massage I opted for a microdermabrasion and facial. My skin was definitely in need of some TLC and this was exactly what was needed.
After our treatments we were both wiped. All that pampering and relaxation takes a lot out of you and we needed a nap! That evening I didn’t really want to pop make-up on my fresh skin so we opted to have dinner next door to the hotel at Fu Manchu, an amazing Asian restaurant. The food was absolutely divine – the pork belly buns were mouthwateringly stupendous!! I’m still dreaming about them.
A well deserved cider after a hard day getting pampered!

One last dinner at Fu Manchu – AH-mazing Asian cuisine!
On Tuesday it was all over, booooo! After some breakfast in Darlinghurst it was back to the airport and arriverderci Sydney – but not before one last holiday champers at the airport…oh and some pre-flight relaxation.
Now it’s time to book my next weekend away….happy Monday dollfaces!

Oh I feel for you Manisha! You’ll need to make the trek to Melbourne when it opens 🙂
Glad you enjoyed your trip to Sydney. The Mardi Gras is awesome. I haven’t actually been able to make it for a few years, but it is such a great celebration every year. I know that it is bad that I live in Sydney and don’t go, but what can you do? 🙂
I’m so glad I finally got the chance to go. I totally understand about not going when it’s in your “backyard” it’s easier to put it off 🙂
I know, but it is only once a year. I was pretty ruined from work though and had to mind my nieces for the night… didn’t really think I should take them hahaha. Although they would have loved it!
They would have LOVED it, we had some little kids near us and they were digging it! 🙂
OMG I forgot about Sephora! I must see if I can get my butt there when I’m in Sydney next month! How excitement! 🙂
You must make the pilgrimage Kez! You’ll love it 😘😘😘
I just adore Sydney, especially that area.
You always look fabulous, but gosh that makeover is stunning.
Awww shucks! Thank you 🙂
Such a groovy area of Sydney! xo
OMG looks like you girls had an amazing trip!! I’m gagging on jealousy! Honey your pics are gorgeous too, almost makes me feel like I was there. Ooh and your makeovers were stunning! So much better than the ones we had in Sephora Vegas. I know you hotties were out there turning heads xo
Hahahahaha thank you dear!! We did have a ball and want to plan the next girls trip ASAP – preferably one where there is another Sephora 😛
SO READY xo
P.s. I absolutely love the Mardi Gras pics YAAAAY!!
I really wish I had some of the floats but I can only imagine the damage I would have done to my camera LOL!
Yes all those over-excited elbows being thrown around… you did the right thing!
