OOTD: Autumn Equinox

One thing I love about my birthday is the fact that it falls on the first true day of autumn (March 21^st in the southern hemisphere is the autumn equinox). I won’t lie and say autumn is my favourite season, because quite frankly nothing can beat the heat of summer for me, but it is a close second. I love the changing of the leaves from their usual green to the gorgeous russet tones of red, yellow and orange.

This new(ish) dress from Kmart (where else?!) reminds me so much of the changing seasons that I thought I had to feature it in an OOTD. The orange/pink florals in it make me think of the altering autumnal leaves. From memory it was $25 and when I saw it on the hanger I didn’t think much of it. I did my usual sweep of racks and came back to it and thought I could “work” with it and I’m glad I did. It’s become one of the dresses in my current high rotation list.

The belt is a separate addition ($10, Kmart) and I like the way it cinches the dress in and adds an extra dimension to the OOTD. To finish I added pops of gold bling with my necklace and shoes (again the influence of the new season) to tie the outfit together.
