If there’s one woman who has made me laugh my ass off consistently throughout the years it’d have to be Julia Louis-Dreyfus! I absolutely adore JLD and Seinfeld is one of my favourite shows of all time. Not a day goes by that I don’t quote from the show, either to myself or to others – which can be very strange when the person you’re talking to isn’t a fan and doesn’t know what the hell you’re talking about!
Julia has been quoted as saying that she holds a lot of respect for “women who are not afraid of making themselves look bad or foolish to get a laugh” like Lucille Ball and Mary Tyler Moore. I love that and think it’s super brave because in today’s world most people don’t want to come off looking foolish. I think we can all do with laughing at ourselves a little bit more!
Even though Seinfeld ended many moons ago (and yes I shed a tear during the finale) I love that out of all the cast members she’s gone on to be the most successful and breaking the dreaded “curse” with shows like The New Adventures of Old Christine and VEEP. Way to go JLD, you’re one fierce female!
