Fierce Females: J.K. Rowling

The divine J.K.

I’ve said it before but there’s something so magical and glorious about reading books and this is especially true of the Harry Potter series! I stumbled upon the wondrous wizard when I was living in Japan. Our communal living area had a bookshelf that had the first four (the only ones published at the time) and I kept passing over them as I thought they were kiddie books, but boy was I pleasantly surprised! I think I read each one twice over because I couldn’t get enough of Ms Rowling’s fun and fabulous characters.

J.K.’s story is one of a positively fierce female and makes me believe that we can all achieve anything we set our minds to. From being a struggling single mother who dabbled in writing and was told to get a day job because she didn’t have a chance of making money writing children’s books (HA!) to being one of the most well known and loved authors and most powerful celebrities of our time.

This Sunday I raise my wand and toast J.K. Rowling, a fabulously imaginative woman whose writing prowess and talent I wish I had an inch of! If only she were my patronus 🙂

  1. I had the exact same discovery. Bought the first four and thought I would put them aside for the kids. But wow, how amazing is she for the whole magical and wonderous world she created. Reading should be about making you feel, and transporting you somewhere else, and she does that in spades.

      • Yes! I was so sad when I finished the last book, happy with the whole story and how it wrapped up, but knowing there were no more was really sad.

Now it's your turn...let me know what you think. I love reading your comments! :)
