MODERN LOVE; In spring leafy gardens bloom sending charismatic, floral notes throughout the city. At MSFW: Designer’s Modern Love, be wooed by the romance of modern shapes and stirring patterns on the runway. Presenting spring/summer ready-to-wear collection, these street savvy designers run the gamut from refined to playful.
As I mentioned in Tuesday’s post, I’ve taken a very big step back from this year’s Melbourne Spring Fashion Week and have decided to see only two runway shows and thankfully they were both winners! Last night I went to see Modern Love at the Melbourne Town Hall and it was a simply gorgeous showing. The audience was wowed by designs from Gorman, Bless’ed Are The Meek, Alexi Freeman, bul, Limedrop, Leonard St., Kawaii, Matcho Suba, Asilio and YB J’aime, as models made their way down a make-shift spring garden runway.
The stand-outs for me were Gorman with their throw-back to the 70s with an explosion of colour, shift dresses as well as pom-pom earrings. I also loved YB J’aime and their uber feminine lace dresses and flower crowns. But the big winner of the night was definitely Matcho Suba who we saw at last years BLEND: Fashion & Wine combo event which was one of my faves! His use of metallic and fringing was so refreshing from the standard, almost normcore, outfits from some of the other designers. The audience thought so too as there was a big cheer after his dresses left the runway.

the highlight of the evening – metallic fringing by Matcho Suba
ethereal gorgeousness from YB J’aime
And that’s a wrap from me for Melbourne Spring Fashion Week 2015 – it feels a little strange that I’m not gallivanting half way across the city and back each evening but I don’t think I could have kept up the pace! I have a crazy month ahead this September and I’m announcing some exciting news on Saturday so stay tuned!
Have you made it out to MSFW 2015? What were your highlights?
