Mother knows best, right? I wore this ensemble out to Mother’s Day lunch on the weekend and I thought mum would just absolutely gag over this new blouse I bought online. When it arrived I wasn’t too ecstatic over the colour, somehow I thought it was more vibrant, but it’s right up her alley colour-wise and the pussy bow would just be the cherry on top. WELL! No sooner had I walked through the door when she told me she had a similar blouse (from the 80s of course), and let’s face it, it was a whole lot nicer than mine. I should’ve known that I got my love of all things pussy bows, maroon and long sleeved blouses from mum! Of course I nabbed hers and it will no doubt be a new staple in my winter wardrobe.
I wonder if I subconsciously was thinking about mum’s blouse while I was shopping for something with a pussy bow? I honestly don’t remember her ever wearing it which is strange! I got the idea like a lightning flash – I knew that it had to be red (ish) and have a long bow at the neck. Next time I get an idea and have a specific piece of clothing in mind I should go directly to mum’s wardrobe, although by now I’ve already stolen most of the great pieces, like this amazeballs coat. Or perhaps it’s time I go back to thrift shops for that retro feel I’m after? I just can’t stand the smell of mothballs and dust – anyone else get that?

Very nice. I want to see your Mum’s one.
I get what you are saying about thrift stores, but a good clean with the OMO and you are good to go 🙂 Luckily it is not a smell that persists 🙂 As long as what you are buying is washable I think you will be fine 🙂
I will have to do a “Take 2” perhaps of this outfit with her blouse in it! Yup, definitely need to see past the smells and then I’ll be onto a winner hahaha xo
I recently bought some gorgeous Japaese pottery tea cups from a thrift store for a $1 each. They are beautiful. I am actually hoping to plant succulents in them 🙂
What a cute idea! I love that. I really want to find some funky old accessories and coats – trying to find a posh suburb to trawl through in the hopes for some high end stuff hahaha
The suburb totally makes a difference. A few years back friends of mine wanted to take their kids to the snow and were worried about the price. They ended up hitting up some thrift stores in “monied” areas that get snow during winter and bought snow gear for the whole family for an average of $30 each.
Ahhhh brilliant! OK I’m definitely going to do that ASAP 🙂
Good luck. You totally have to blog that shopping trip hahaha
Oh I shall – camera will be at the ready! 🙂
Also known as *Japanese* lol
Hahaha got ya 😉 xo
Hey Rosie, love your outfit (especially the pants) and blog. I featured this post on the CITYTIMES http://citytimes.evonso.com/outfit-of-the-day/ . Hope it is alright.
Hi! That’s great but you’ve got my name wrong on the post and links are missing 😁
Ops… corrected. 🙂
Thanks very much- it’s really appreciated 😊
Great outfit, the colour of this blouse is very nice. 🙂

Thanks so much Timi! I was hoping it was redder but it’s grown on me 😊
I can never go past a good pussy bow blouse dollface! There’s just something so girly and delightful about them. And I love that your mama had a matching one LOL! Chile some of my best outfits are teefed from the back of my mum’s closet. I just give them a good wash to get the musty smell out, and leave them to dry in the sun. Get into it xo
Why were the clothes so much better then?! Really wish she kept everything 😂
Right?! Why didn’t my mum keep the miniskirts and platforms for me? LOL I used to swoon over these white patent platforms she had in all these photos. They had white laces that tied all the way up her legs… Mummy recently told me that the laces were made of white masking tape #TooMuchFashion 😂😂😂
I DIE! That sounds amazing!! My mama had some amazing leather minis I’d gag over now 🙂
