OOTD: The Long & The Short Of It

ootd_the long and the short of it_04

I HAVE PINK HAIR! Yup, I bit the bullet and went for it. I’ve been lusting after candy floss coloured locks for the longest time and I just thought why the hell not?!

Now that that’s out of the way I can tell you about my lovely thrift shop adventure last weekend with Emily who’s the gorgeous blogger over at Blue Umbrella Lane. Emily and I met earlier in the year at the Bloggers United x Sacred Heart Soirée where we bonded over FARSHION! I loved her outfit that she was wearing and she proudly told us all that it was from an Op Shop and that she doesn’t buy anything new. Say what now?! Being an avid shopper and spender I just love that ethos of reusing and spending less. What’s that saying? One man’s trash is another man’s treasure?

Emily took me to a couple of her favourite stores down in Brunswick and we had a fun time browsing the aisles and scoring a couple of bargains like this cute assymetrical blouse and funky handbag to name a few. All up I scored 5 items for less than $20 – absolute bargain! Are you a fan of op/thrift shops? What’s the best bargain you picked up?

Thanks again Emily for our “thrift date”

      • Aww Rosie what a lovely blog post and I had so much fun showing you around! I’m always up for a thrift date 🙂 You found some great bargains which I love seeing! I couldn’t believe you picked clothes up without trying on! Lol

        Loving the hair too!

        Cheers
        Em

      • Hahaha it’s years of eagle eyed shopping – now I just know whether something will work or not just by sight 🙂 Thanks lovely, we MUST do it again soon! xoxox

  1. Love the hair. I used to LOVE thrift shopping, but have started finding that at a lot of the places out my way they charge quite a bit of money for some of the stuff and in some cases it is cheaper to buy new than used. Especially the furniture. I went to a thrift store for some drawers and coffee tables and the only stuff under $100 was tables that looked like the stuff I would reject from my side of the road rescue capers when I was in Uni!

      • Sure is. 🙂 They had a nice (but not good condition) dresser with mirror they wanted $695 for it. I was looking at it with Mum mostly in shock and one of the workers rushes over and starts talking about how lovely it is. I asked why it was so expensive and she said it was an antique. I asked who made it, she didn’t know. I asked her how she knew it was an antique and she replied that it was old. So I explained to her that just because something was old that doesn’t mean that it is worth anything, particularly when it is beyond restoration and that we weren’t in an antique store, but an Op Shop and that I didn’t feel what they were doing was right. Haven’t been back since which is sad because I like recycling and I felt like not only was I recycling, but I was supporting the less fortunate by shopping there.

      • Not the first place I’ve seen it, but it is the first place that I’ve said something LOL.
They also do it with anything they think they can pass off as “retro”. 🙂

  2. First off, I love the outfit!! Especially that blouse! I definitely love your pink hair, it is right up your alley! I don’t think I can pull off the pink look… I tried purple and red, the red does better with my fiery personality! At least that’s what everybody kept telling me! 🙂

  3. Your hair looks so good, wish I had the courage to do something like that. When I was in high-school I got most of my clothes from thrift shops. The budget was low, but I also liked the fact that you could find some great bargains. I once got an Escada shirt for 2£.
