The other day I was watching one of the latest eps of Keeping Up With The KarTrashians (yup, I know!) and I was completely astounded when Kylie Jenner practically broke the internet when she launched one of her new lip kits.

I don’t get it! Are they really that fabulous or are girls just completely cray for anything those ladies do/say/sell? I was really intrigued by how this mini Kim K has the cosmetic world by the short and curlies and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.
Being a budget conscious lass though, I’m really not that keen on spending close to $40AUD on a lippy (plus shipping) just because it’s the new “it” product. So of course I turned to Google to see what the best dupes were and Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid lipstick kept popping up.
The Vivid Matte range is touted as being not as matte as the Kylie lipsticks but quite frankly I don’t have a problem with that. I actually love the fact that it looks matte but is extremely creamy on the lips. It’s far from dry as most matte formulas are so this is definitely a winner in my books.
I grabbed the colour Nude Thrill and I am absolutely in love with the pink/nude tone as I’m having a renewed love affair with this stunning demure shade of late and I can’t get enough of it. I can get close to two hours of wear (drinking only) before having to reapply which isn’t as long lasting as some other matte lipsticks but at more than half the price of Ms Jenner’s offerings I’m super happy to stick with Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid.
They’re available in 8 shades; Nude Flush, Electric Pink, Orange Shot, Fuchsia Ecstasy, Rebel Red, Berry Boost, Possessed Plum and Nude Thrill.
Has anyone tried Kylie’s lip kits? Are they really all that and a bag of chips?!

I use these as a dupe for Kylie’s products too!! I love how creamy they are to apply! I don’t mind so much that they aren’t super long lasting because they’re easy to reapply and come off softer when you eat and drink (i.e. no weird flaky effects if you can’t reapply right away). They don’t seem to dry my lips out as much as other brands either! I just wish they came in even more colours! That nude shade is my go to! I also have the orange shot shade and it gets so many compliments! I want one of the pink shades (can’t remember which one it is I like) next!

I feel the same way. I appreciate their business acumen (most probably Kris’) but I feel like they’re heavily overpriced because of the hoopla.

O bought the Kylie one for my teenage makeup obsessed daughter and if course I tried it. Staying power so good that you struggle to remove it all after a long day BUT, super dry on. Like, matte multiplied too much. I’d definitely rather a cheaper one, like it’s hard to reapply!
Ooooooooh so not a fan of that ultra dry lippy life. My lips are dry enough as it is and once anything like that hits them it’s a thousand times worse.

The dryness is the absolute worst. Like, crusty dry.
And we went a bit nuts, I think between the two of us we ended up buying about four of them, but she has them all!
