Sunday Sessions; The Soundtrack to My Life – Cher

cher

Slay, lady, SLAY!

As I told you in last year’s Fierce Females post, I can remember the exact time and place when I first heard Cher’s comeback anthem Turn Back Time (I swear I’m not on the spectrum!). It was 1989 and I’d just returned home after being away in Europe for three months with my parents. Bundled up in the backseat of the car on the way home from the airport I was happy as shit to be home and ready to tackle Grade 4 and all that life throws at a 9 year old when the song starts playing on the radio and my sister and cousins start singing along. Huh? “WHAT THE HELL IS THIS AMAZING SONG AND WHY DON’T I KNOW ALL THE LYRICS TOO?!

Needless to say I was hooked and a closet fan ever since. Yup, closeted! Truth me told, I wasn’t an always out and proud card carrying member of the Cher fan club. Even though I loved her and her songs spoke to that inner gay man living inside me, I thought it was a little daggy to dig her music and I once bought her Best Of CD under the guise of buying it for my mum for Mother’s Day! Thankfully all that has changed and I’m here to say I LOVE CHER and I don’t give a shit who knows!!

walk of fame cher

Without Cher who would I imitate at karaoke? Without Cher would I be as funky and fashionable? Without Cher how would I really, REALLY know that there was life after love?!

Do YOU believe in life after love?!

This is by far one of my favourite Cher songs and this Sunday I’d like you to turn this up LOUD and sing into your hairbrush and enjoy the fabulousness that is CHER! Happy Sunday dollface…

  1. It always amazes me that people are actually ashamed or embarrassed by the music they like, movies they watch, and books they read. I’m glad that you openly love Cher. lol I have liked a few of her songs and I admire her as a person. I think she is just a fabulous person, or what I have seen over her.

    • I agree Heather! As a teenager I was really embarrassed about my musical choices, damn peer pressure! Now I’m an out and proud Cher lover and I don’t care who knows!!! 😜🤘🏻

      • I was never embarrassed about my music when I was younger. I don’t know if you know them, but I was a huge Hanson fan as a kid and was picked on just a bit for it. lol I say embrace the music that makes your soul soar! haha!

      • Oh yeah Hanson! I loved their song “If Only” and bought the single (remember those?! LOL!) played it on repeat forever hahaha 💋💋

Now it's your turn...let me know what you think. I love reading your comments! :)
